This post promises to be short and sweet unlike Hard Rock Calling’s epic Friday night performance on July 14th. As my first introduction to The Boss, the legend Bruce Springsteen was utterly show shopping. Leaving me completely speechless, funnily enough just like how the concert ended.
More than three hours of truly fantastic pure American rock along with The E Street Band, I felt like I was being embraced into London’s Hyde Park family. Bruce’s devotion to the fans was evident, a love that was completely reciprocated.
This was a real highlight of my summer and now Bruce’s classics and Wrecking Ball tracks rank highly on my iTunes.
Bruce and McCartney’s half a ‘One Last Song’
Discovering Ed Sheeran a couple a years ago and learning he was an East Anglian boy, his name became household (in our house) long before his rise to super stardom.
Following his international success, Ed’s return gig to local Thetford Forest was sold out in minutes and lucky for us on July 12 my sister and I were metres away.
The atmosphere at High Lodge, Thetford Forest was incredible as Ed’s performance was just audible over the singing rain-drenched crowds.
In the beautiful surroundings music lovers are encouraged to bring picnics and enjoy the laid back feel of a festival in the forest, being the first time I’d ventured to Thetford, I will certainly be going again. Check those coming soon here.
This had to be my favourite of the night along with the first song I ever heard from Ed Sheeran.
I’ve wanted to share this artist with you for a while, but doing Lianne La Havas justice has had me worried.
With her debut album being released on July 9, 2012 now is the perfect time to introduce her folk soul sound as I’m certain she’s set to explode all over the mainstream and some selected UK festivals this year. You need to experience Lianna now before commercial channels get hold of her unique voice.
“Nothing like Corinne Bailey Rae or Andreya Triana, but we all have similar hair.’ Lianna La Havas form her Facebook page.
Here is the first track that had me hooked…
Lianne wrote her first song at age 11 having been brought up in London, her Greek father and Jamaican mother’s diverse musical tastes have had a big influence on her music. Now 22, Lianne’s first TV performance on Later… with Jools Holland back in October lead to supporting Bon Iver on his North American Tour. Her next single ‘Is Your Love Big Enough’ comes as her album titled the same is launched this summer.
I’m very jealous that my little sister, Kelsey will be able to watch her first at Latitude Festival, Suffolk (July 13-15) but thankfully Lianne is also performing at this years Bestival, Isle of Wight (September 7), honestly I think I’m more excited to see her than headliner Stevie Wonder!
From listening to her EPs Lianne’s remarkable voice promises a unforgettable album pre-order now, and make sure you follow this one too @liannelahavas
If you haven’t made Summer Festival plans yet, here is your guide! by @alxmoore
This time last week I was eagerly awaiting the Ben Howard gig to begin, and he didn’t disappoint!
The performance was equally crowd uplifting, as it was beautifully silence at times. Ben Howard’s mesmerising voice has brought a unique sound to the masses. His popularly is growing and the whole album is one not to be missed.
If you haven’t had the pleasure, these two are my favourite.
And to top it off, what artwork!
And finally if you’ve fallen madly in love like I have, Ben doing his own headline tour in November after a Summer of appearances on the festival scene… honestly it was sooo good!
Hollywood’s silhouetted figures were certainly mirroring the Oscars Trophy at its prelude the 69th Golden Globes Awards!
Here I’ve compiled my top 10 best dressed, obviously my colour blinkers have been drawn to the gowns, which reflected the renowned carpet.
Hope you agree…
This summer- as a final university girls send off- I had my first festival experience. Thankfully my ladies are camping experts and with the pot noodles in the backpacks, crates in our arms the coach to V Festival was only a short 5 hours.
Along with great bands, incredible laughs, last minute tickets, sun and litres of cloudy lemonade (Honestly the best mixer) V was a real highlight of my year!
Recovering on the sofa I got a little carried away with the photo editing. I’ve been used this website http://pixlr.com/ have a play around, it gets addictive. These photos really depict my whole weekend…Enjoy!
